The Shallowness of Politics

So, it's 10:05 PM and I am sitting here curious what to blog about when suddenly I hit this. http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/wire-man-gop-race-michigan-15791661
This talks about the campaigning  strategies that Santorum and Romney are using. These men just bash eachother continuesly going back and forth. The reason I picked this topic is because I'm curious as to why politics has to be this way. Why do men; people in general, feel the need to have to make someone else look bad just to earn a few more votes.
Someone shouldnt be judged based on a personal belief or made out to be some monster just because they don't have the same thinking. I believe that Romney was wrong to call Santorum out on his pro choice beliefs. It's his belief. Likewise, Santorum shouldn't even be thinking about Romney or scandals that he may have hidden if any exist. A man runs for president for the people, he is the figurehead for America. He is supposed to be the voice of the people and I just am disappointed that they have to tear eachother down just so they have a shot at winning. Also, on this particular link I was mainly aiming at Romney because he seems to be the one with the biggest mouth in my opinion thus far. Yet, he is also still winning so obviously something is going right for him.
